For many people, Bodo might seem like a quick stopover on the way to the Lofoten Islands (where I lived for an entire year). While Lofoten is an incredible place to adventure, I highly recommend spending a couple of nights in Bodo to explore the stunning Salten region of Northern Norway. I’m so glad we took our time exploring this area as it’s basically a quieter version of Lofoten with some stunning hikes and cool natural attractions like the Saltstraumen Maelstrom (whirlpools).
Luckily, Bodø is pretty small, so which area you stay in isn’t too much of an issue, but finding a great hotel for your budget requires a little more effort. To save you the hassle, I’ve gone through and found you the best hotels in Bodø and categorised them by price range. Whether you’re looking for a hotel near the airport for a quick layover or something right in the middle of the action, you’ll find it in this article!

Bodo is a pretty small city and you’ll see that most of the hotels are located in a central downtown area. This is for sure the best place to stay in town in terms of location, as you can walk to practically everything in the city. However, it only takes around 5 minutes to drive from one side of Bodø to the other, so wherever you choose, you’re going to be pretty close.

There are some absolutely stunning luxury hotels in Bodø and unlike in Oslo, you don’t have to pay a small fortune to enjoy them! If you’ve got money to spend, splurging on an incredible 4 or 5 start hotel in Bodo is the way to go!
Wood Hotel Bodø – The Most Unique Hotel in Bodo
This hotel is the only hotel on the list which isn’t in downtown Bodo, but trust me, it’s worth it! It’s located around a 10-minute drive outside the city center, but I don’t think you’ll mind when you see the fabulous infinity pool that overlooks the mountains and sea, plus all the other amazing facilities that this hotel offers!
While here, you can also relax in their spa center, enjoy sunset swims (the views are insanely beautiful) and work out in their gym. The accommodation has 3 on-site restaurants, so you’ll definitely enjoy some yummy dishes, and there’s also a bar. You get the feeling of being in the wilderness while being super close to the city, what more could you ask for!?
Home Hotel Grand Bodø – Best Luxury Hotel in Central Bodø
Another great option that’s a little more central, The Home Hotel Grand features suites with a fireplace! This gorgeous 4-star hotel is perfect for those of you who love a cozy vibe but also comfort. There’s nothing like relaxing with a warm bath, after a day of walking around the city.
The accommodation offers complimentary breakfast and dinner, and also discounted entrance to the nearby Rapida Balance Gym & Spa. They do have a gym on-site, but if you’d like to try some spa treatments, then I’d take advantage of that deal!
Thon Hotel Nordlys – Best Hotel with a View in Bodø
Room with sea views and a great location right near the harbour (so you’ll get to see all the ships) plus many other amazing facilities! Yep, this hotel is definitely a keeper. The rooms are super comfy and offer a seating area where you can enjoy your coffee in the morning.
All guests will get a complimentary breakfast and after you’ve regained your strength with a yummy meal, you can try some of the activities that the hotel offers like going on a boat trip or a fishing adventure.
Scandic Havet – A Beautiful Modern Bodø Hotel
End a day of exploring the city and visiting attractions with a delicious dinner and drinks at the rooftop restaurant of this hotel! Yep, the views are incredible and the food – just yummy! Don’t worry though, the rooms offer some amazing sights as well, thanks to the large windows.
You’ll also find a fitness center, a bar and an outdoor terrace here. If you’re not sure what to do on your first day in town, you can rent a bike from the hotel and explore around. You’ll definitely see more of the city this way. If you’re looking for a reliable luxury hotel chain, Scandic never disappoints.
Comfort Hotel Bodø – Pet Friendly Luxury Hotel
Simple, modern and with a great location near Bodo’s attractions, Comfort hotel is a great option for tourists! Kick-off your day with a complimentary breakfast at the hotel before you head out to explore the city.
Their rooms are small, but some come with lots of large windows and all of them offer a flat-screen TV. There’s also a gym on-site, perfect for those of you who don’t want to miss out on your workout.

Offering a great location near the train station, this hotel has such great aesthetics! I love the colors they used in the design of the hotel and all the furnishings. The rooms follow the same patterns, they’re simple but super chic, and some boast views of the sea.
You can enjoy breakfast (for a charge) on-site, but know that there are also some restaurants just a short walk away from the hotel. The accommodation can also arrange movie nights and walking tours for you!
Quality Hotel Ramsalt – Best Hotel in Bodø for Families
Enjoy coffee in your bed while admiring the sea views at this hotel that’s located near Langstranda Beach. The rooms offer a simple yet chic design with brown furnishings and woody elements.

But don’t worry, even though these are the best cheap hotels in Bodo, Norway, it doesn’t mean they’re crappy. I’ve hand picked these hotels because they offer incredible value for money without sacrificing comfort.
Scandic Bodø – Best Budget Hotel in Bodø
If you’re looking for something a bit more affordable then look no further than this waterfront hotel has a great location right near the train station. The accommodation has an on-site restaurant where you can enjoy breakfast.
You can also rent bikes from the hotel to explore around Bodo or sign up for some of the many activities that they offer like skiing and fishing.
Zefyr Hotel – Best Hotel Near the Hospital
This hotel is actually located on the grounds of a hospital, and it serves as an accommodation for patients, too. Don’t worry though, as it’s super clean and it surely doesn’t resemble a hospital! The rooms have modern furnishings and have a private bathroom.
